Free WoW Fishing Guide 1 - 525

You need to reach 525 fishing skill level. You’ll want to read this carefully, because this fishing guide is going to show you the easiest and fastest way to level fishing from 1 to 525. You will see it needs plenty of patience and just as much time so that you can build your skill level to the maximum level of 525. You will actually have to catch around 3000 fish from the beginning to end. Are you ready?

From Levels 1 to 75 you will earn a skill point on just about every successful catch you have. As your skill get higher this will decrease. From 300 to 525 you will need more than 10 successful catches for each of the skill points gained. Let’s break this down into levels.

Fishing 1 - 525

To begin with, visit a trainer in one of the main cities of the old Azeroth – ask a guard and then learn from a fishing apprentice.

Next buy your fishing pole. Trade goods vendor and fishing supplies send them.

Head to the nearest water and then fish from skill 1 to 525.

Don’t forget to see your fishing trainer when you reach skills 75, 150, 225, 375, and 450.

That’s all there is to it. You are able to fish anywhere even in the zones where you find your fishing skill too low. You might just catch mostly junk but you fishing skill will go up if you catch something.

 

Fishing + Cooking Leveling Guide 1 - 75

Before beginning you need to purchase these three recipes. If you don’t want to travel why not visit the Auction House.

Head to Booty Bay and buy 2 recipes: ‘Filet of Redgill’ and ‘Mithril Head Trout’

Go to Feralas and find the Alliance’s Vivianna and Horde’s Sheendra Tallgrass and buy the recipe ‘Baked Salmon.’

If you aren’t planning to level cook to 450 within a day, make sure you visit the Horde Marogg or the Alliance’s Robby Flay. They can give you daily quests to complete in order to reach level cooking 525. When you complete the quest you get 1 to 2 cooking skills, a chef’s award.

Horde

Head to Thunder Bluff to learn both cooking and fishing. Next head to Bloodhoof Village. Find Harn Longcast and buy 2 recipes from him ‘Brilliant Smallfish’ and ‘Longjaw Mud Snapper.’ While you are there by a fishing pole, then go fishing in Stonebull Lake until you reach a fish skill level of 75. Catch approx 20 raw ‘Longjaw Mud Snapper’ and 30 raw Brilliant Small Fish.

Alliance

Head to Elwynn Forest and then to Goldshire, where Tomas will teach you apprentice cooking in the inn kitchen. Look for Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire center and buy a recipe for your Brilliant Small Fish and Longjaw Mud Snapper, and a fishing pole.

Lee Brown will teach you apprentice fishing. You’ll find him by the lake that’s just east of Goldshire. You can fish anywhere on the lake. Keep fishing until you reach 75 Fishing Skill. Catch about 20 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapperand 30 Raw Brilliant Small Fish.

Now go and visit Lee Brown again and he will teach you journeyman fishing.

75 - 165

Horde

Head to Thunder Bluff and go fishing in the pond that’s near the auction house at Thunder Bluff. Stay until your skill reaches 165. Make sure you take time to stop by and see your trainer between fishing skill 126 and 150. You’ll need to catch approx. 100 raw Long Jaw Mud Snapper, 40 Bristle Whisker Catfish, and 30 raw Brilliant Small Fish.

You need to learn the Brilliant Small Fish recipe and cook up all your fish. This will take you to a cooking skill of 50. If you aren’t able to make it to 50 all you have to do is fish for a bit longer. Then learn the Longjaw Mud Snapper recipe and cook all your Longjaw Mud Snapper, which should rise your cooking skill to over 100. If not, just fish for awhile longer. Your cooking skill needs to reach a minimum of 125.

Alliance

It’s time to travel to the City of Stormwind where you fish the canals until your skill gets to at least 165. Remember you need to visit the trainer sometime between fish skill 125 and 150. You will need to catch around 30 Brilliant Small Fish, 40 raw bristle whisker catfish, and 100 raw Longjaw Mud Snapper.

You need to learn the recipe for Brilliant Small Fish and you also need to cook all of your fish. This should take your fishing skill to at least 50, but if not all you have to do is fish for a little longer. Head off to the cooking train so you can learn your next cooking rank.

You will need to learn the Longjaw Mud Snapper recipe and cook up all your Longjaw Mud Snapper. This should take your skill level above 100, or just keep fishing until you do reach it. Your cooking skill has to reach a minimum of 125 to move to the next cooking rank.

165 – 225
It’s time to head to Western Plaguelands. Here you can fish in the open water from fishing skill 165 – 225. You will need to catch approx. 80 raw Mithril Head Trout and 80 raw bristle whisker catfish. Cook all the catfish and this will take your cooking skill to around 175. If you don’t quite reach 175 then just keep fishing and catch some more fish. Now learn the Mithril Head Trout recipe and cook until your cooking skill makes it to 225.

225 – 275

 

By the time you reach the end of this section you need to reach 275, only cooking. Travel to the Eastern Plaguelands and go fishing in the open inland waters until you have caught at least 35 raw Redgill, and a few raw Mithril Head Trout, along with raw Night Fin Snapper and raw Sunscale salmon that must total 20-25 combined.

You need to cook all the Mithril Head Trout that are remaining and you need to learn the file of Redgill recipe. It’s time to cook all your fish and you should reach a cooking skill of at least 250.

Now it’s off to the Ironforge/Undercity and learn the next rank of cooking. Then learn the Night Fin Snapper soup and poached Sunscale salmon recipes. Remember your cooking skill has to reach 275.

275 – 300

Head to the Blasted Lands. To get there you can use the portals in any of the major cities. You will find a portal trainer nearby. Head to the Tainted Forest and start fishing in the open water until you have caught 25 raw White Scale Salmon. Look the baked salmon recipe and cook baked salmon until you find your cooking skills have reached 300. If your fishing skill is stuck below 275, don’t worry, just keep fishing.

300 – 350

It’s time to ride through the massive Dark Portal that is located in the center of the Blasted Lands. Go to Cenarion Refug Zangarmarsh, where you will need to find Naka at the inn. You will need to learn master cooking then it’s time to go to Juno Dufrain by the lake so that you can learn master fishing. You will need to buy the recipes below:

Alliance

Feltail Delight and Blackened Trout recipe that Doba sells in Orebor Harborage, Zangarmarsh. It requires that you have a neutral reputation with Kurenai.

Golden Fish Sticks recipe sold by Biribi the Innkeeper in Alerian Stronghold, in Terokkar Forest

 

Horde:

Blackened Trout recipe that Gambarinka sells in Zabra'jin, Zangarmarsh

Golden Fish Sticks recipe sold by Rungor in Terokkar Forest, Stonebreaker Hold

Head to Terrokar Forest and then start to fish at the lake until your skill reaches 315. You should catch a minimum of 15 Spotted Feltail, 75 barbed gill trout, and 15 golden darter. Now you need to learn the recipe for the Spotted Feltail delight and cook up all your Spotted Feltail. Next learn the blackened trout recipe and cook up all the rest of your fish until your skill reaches at least 320.

Go to Shattrath. Head to the inn where you will find Kylene. It’s on the north-east side of Shattrath’s Lower City. Cook your remaining barbed gill trout. Then learn the golden fish sticks recipe and cook darter until your skill level makes it to at least 350. If you aren’t there just keep fishing until you do.

350 - 450

You need to visit the closest cooking trainer you can find, and learn the grand master cooking. Follow these 3 recipes. Dalaran Clam Chowder, Smoked Rockfin, and Baked Manta Ray.

Travel to Borean Tundra and fish in the open coastal water when your skill is 315 to 375. You have to fish a named area of the coastal water. If you start catching Bonescale Snapper then you are definitely in the wrong place.

You should catch a minimum of 30 Darkwater Clam, 60 Borean Man O’War, 100 Rockfin Grouper, and 60 Imperial Manta Ray.

Cook your catch in this order:

Rockfin Grouper as Smoked Rockfin

Succulent Clam Meat as Dalaran Clam Chowder

Imperial Manta Ray as Baked Manta Ray

At cooking skill 400 find Orn Tenderhoof for Horde or Rollick MacKreel for Alliance and learn to create Black Jelly, then cook all your Borean Man O' War as Blackjelly.

You are required to reach a minimum of 415 cooking skill. Train Darkbrew Lager from a cooking trainer. There is no need to buy the reagents at the auction house as they are sold by these vendors. Make Darkbrew Lager up to 435.

You must return to the cooking trainer so you can learn Blackened Surprise. This recipe calls for toughened flesh, which you can loot from a number of wild animals in the Cataclysm level zones or just buy it at the auction house. The recipe is going to be orange right up to 450. You will need 15 toughened flesh.

450 – 525

From the cooking trainer, train illustrious cook and learn the following rank of fishing if you have not already done so. From here on you are going to purchase your recipes with Chef’s Award. You get this by completing your daily cooking quest that either Robby Flay from the Alliance or Marogg from the Horde, give you.

Once you have gathered enough awards you can visit Bario Matalli from the Alliance or Shazdar from the Horde. You can then buy new recipes. You will usually pay 3 Chef’s Award for a recipe. To reach 525 you will need to buy these three recipes.

Light Fired Lurker or Lurker Lunch recipe – 450 cooking skill.

Pickled Guppy recipe – 475 cooking skill.

Severed Sagefish Head or Delicious Sagefish Tail recipe – 500 cooking skill.

Now you must go to Verrall River or lake found in the Twilight Highlands. You need to fish inland in the open water in the Twilight Highlands until you catch a minimum of 25 Highland Guppy and 50 Striped Lurker. Remember you need to visit your trainer between fishing skills 425 and 459.

450 – 480

You will need the Lightly Fried Lurker or the Lurker Lunch recipe – Striped Lurker

480 – 500

You need the Pickled Guppy recipe – Highland Guppy

Travel across the Twighlight Highlands. You will find coastal water there and fish too. You can catch Deepsea Sagefish. Catch a few, then cook them up, and you will slowly earn those last skill points. Just keep fishing until your cooking skill reaches 525.

Then you will need to keep catching fish because it will take a lot more catches to reach your 525 fishing skill. Once you have earned your cooking skill maximum, you can keep working on raising your fishing skill anywhere you want including Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
