World of Warcraft Starter Edition
Rage of the Firelands launched and World of Warcraft Starter Edition was introduced, the replacement for the free trial that was previously available. The World of Warcraft Starter Edition permits everyone to play free up to level 20. There are no time restrictions on the trial account. You just need your Battle.net account and an internet connection. If you don’t have a Battle.net account, you can easily get one.
There are a number of ways to get the World of Warcraft Starter Edition and begin to play the games. Visit www.warcraft.com, use a trial key that came with another Blizzard product/game, or receive an invite from a friend through the Recruit-a-Friend program.
The new Starter Edition opens with new features not previously available in the older limited trials. WoW Starter Edition players can create blood elf and Draenei characters, which they couldn’t previously do in trial accounts. The two starting zones related to these races are available to anyone who wants to try the game. They’ve even raised the gold limit to 10 gold, and when Starter Edition players reach the appropriate level(s) they are allowed to purchase mounts.
Once you reach level 20, your character(2) will no longer gain experience. However, you can still keep playing and exploring Azeroth for however long you want. You can also try out a new class or race by rolling out an entirely new character. Or if you like you can upgrade your account to a paid account and carry your adventure on past level 20.
To upgrade your account you can:
Option #1 – Upgrade Online
Go to https://www.battle.net/account/management/upgrade-wow.html and there you can upgrade to the full version of WoW. It takes a couple of minutes and you’ll be playing again in minutes.
Option #2 Retailer
Go to your local retailer or visit the Blizzard Store www.blizzard.com/store and purchase the boxed copy of WoW. You’ll use the authentication key to upgrade to the full version.
You will use the same account name and password as you did on your trial account. Your character(s) and your items will be there when you log into the full version but all the restrictions will be removed. With your update you will get 30 days of game access for free.
You will need to download the World of Warcraft Starter Edition account. You’ll be prompted to do so. If you have a fast enough internet connection the streaming World of Warcraft game client will automatically download. If you have a slower internet connection you will be prompted to download the full Starter Edition game so you can play it.
The streaming client will load data in the background as you are playing, but your internet speed has to fast enough. You may have the occasional pause in the game play as the background is loading. Even with a fast internet connection you can download the full version if you prefer to play the game that way.
With the launch of World of Warcraft Starter Edition all trial accounts, even those that have expired, are now active. This means that if you ever tried WoW that trial account is now available to you. The changes in the WoW Starter Edition have resulted in an upgraded Recruit-a-Friend program. So if you have a friend that might like the WoW Starter Edition why not send them an invite.
Once you have your account upgrade you will need a wow leveling guide and a world of warcraft gold guide so you have the right level and amount of gold for all your weapons.
